Self Employed Persons Programs:
This Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person.
Such people should at least have relevant experience in cultural activities or athletics and be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada. They should have relevant experience, be willing and able to be self-employed in Canada, meet the program’s selection criteria and meet medical, security and other conditions
Entrepreneur Programs
There are other entrepreneur programs that provide the pathway to invest in Canada, work, own and run a business and eventually be eligible for Permanent residence. Some of the programs are BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration program under Base and Pilot Category and OINP
Such programs require a minimum net worth and investment amount with other eligibility parameters such as work experience, age, Language proficiency, Financials etc.
Start up Visa Programs
The Start-up Visa Program provide a pathway for immigrant entrepreneurs who have the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada and are innovative, can create jobs for Canadians, can compete on a global scale.
In order to be eligible for this program, the applicant should have a qualifying business, have a letter of support from a designated organization, meet language requirements (CLB 5), have enough money to settle in Canada before making money from the proposed business. There are also admissibility requirements which should be met as well.
Each applicant should hold at least 10% of the voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation outstanding at the time of getting commitment from designated organization and up to 5 people can apply as owners.
Also, the applicants and the designated organization jointly hold more than 50% of the total voting rights attached to all shares of the corporation outstanding at that time.
